title: 20220726T133007

The major issue I have with the program (B.S. in Computer Science) is the level
of practical skills needed to do this work in a functional capacity outside of
academia. Things such as SVC, debugging, DevOps, finding external solutions,
etc. were severely lacking. Many of these things are true requirements to being
successful in a production environment, of which the responsibility now falls
onto the student (or more likely senior developers they first work under) to
learn/teach them in the first few years of work, if ever. Which, in my opinion,
leads to poorly written and maintained software throughout the field, and lowers
the expectations and perception of all developers.
